Dr. Karin Markides is the President and CEO, Okinawa Institute of Science and Technology (OIST). Originally from Sweden, she will speak about
open innovation activities in Japan and the key differences she sees between the European and Japanese academic and startup ecosystems.
Special Guest
Dr. Ulrike Schaede is a Professor of Japanese Business; Director, Japan Forum for Innovation and Technology, University of California, San Diego. She will speak about her recently published book “The Business Reinvention of Japan” which explores the current Japanese business strategies that make Japan the world’s third-largest economy and how Japan’s largest companies are building new processes of breakthrough innovation.
